Karen Scrivener

      Karen Scrivener, member of both the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng) and the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (SATW), and professor at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. Her research fields focus on the hydration mechanisms and the microstructure characterization of cement-based materials. Prof. Scrivener has published over 250 SCI papers accumulating a total citation count of over 27,000. She served as the editor-in-chief of Cement and Concrete Research, a leading international journal in the field of cement and concrete. In 2008, she first introduced the concept of limestone-calcined clay cement (LC3) and serves as the overall coordinator of the LC3 project which is supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
